‘This is a 30-hour oak-cased clock dating from about 1750, made by the well-known Derby clock maker Thomas Mawkes.
It has a painted arched dial featuring fruit bowl detail, with seconds hand and working date dial.
The hood has a scrolled arched top with brass rosettes and attractive boxwood stringing, and has tapered pillars.
The movement is clean and in good working order. It keeps good time.
The door to the trunk also features stringing and has a lock with key and an attractive brass escutcheon.’
