This is a fine quality mahogany George III Scottish 8-day clock with an
attractive painted face. Scottish clocks are sought after and have a
reputation for being well made.
The dial has brass hands and subsidiary seconds and calendar dials. The
arch depicts a young girl gathering flowers.
The movement is in good, clean condition and keeps excellent time.
The hood has an arched pediment and meandrous frieze, and is supported
by brass-capped wooden pillars.
The case is in good condition and is a rich mahogany colour. The door
has a lock and key.
John Mill was a respected cabinet maker and clock maker. His clocks are
peculiar to the Montrose area in that they are smaller than the traditional
Scottish clocks of this period.
