This 8-day clock by a notable London clockmaker is in excellent condition.
It is housed in a mahogany case and has a STRIKE/SILENT function.
The arched face is matted brass with silvered chapter rings to the strike/silent, seconds dial and time dial.
There are brass rococo spandrels to the four corners and to the arch. There is a working date aperture. The numerals are in Roman and Arabic.
The four-pillared movement is in good condition and keeps good time. It rings on the hour to a bell.
The weights are encased in brass.
The mahogany case has a nice patina and is in good, solid condition.
The hood has an arched top with swept cavetto pediment and applied scroll mouldings. It is supported on tapered wooden pillars with brass cappings.
The trunk has an attractive full-length door with scolloped edges. It has a working lock and key.
The base has a scolloped surround to the centre, and some marquetry.
