HARPER & SON, SALOP
Richard Harper was a well known clockmaker based in Shrewsbury in the mid 18th century. He was joined by his son in about 1780.
This is a George III 30-hour brass-faced clock housed in a mahogany case. It has been restored and is in excellent working condition.
The brass face has a silvered chapter ring and a matted centre. It has Roman and Arabic numerals. The sad-face date aperture is in working order.
The movement has been restored and keeps good time. It rings to a bell on the hour.
The hood is supported on wooden pillars with brass cappings. It has three finials.
The trunk is quite plain, the full-length arched door having a working lock and key.
