HENRY BANISTER of LITCHFIELD (sic)
This is a local George III clock with an 8-day movement by Henry Banister. Banister worked in Lichfield in the 1790s and early 1800s, and was a well-known maker.
It has a 31cm silvered dial and chapter ring, with Rococo spandrels. It has a subsidiary seconds dial. The date wheel is not functioning.
The movement is in good clean condition, and keeps good time.
The case is light/medium oak and is quite plain. The hood has a blind fretwork frieze and tapered pillars. The trunk has a full-length locking door.
