An Elegant George III, well-proportioned mahogany Longcase Clock with a silvered-brass dial, by 'James Gordon of Perth.'

James Gordon is recorded as a clockmaker in Perth, Scotland, active circa 1771-1796.

The handsome hood, with cavetto cornice above a blind fretwork arch, is supported by turned 3/4 columns. The mahogany case has an arched door and plain base box raised on bracket feet, accompanied by a lovely aged-patina.

The 12" brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter, subsidiary seconds dial below 12 o'clock, calendar aperture above 6 o'clock and a sought-after strike/silent dial to the arch.

The eight-day movement has four knopped pillars, striking beautifully on a bell.

The clock comes with it's original pendulum, two weights, winding key and door key.

Hood: Very minor cosmetic marks and subtle signs of it’s age.

Case: Generally excellent overall with some minor signs of age and use. Some light veneer splits to the base box. Lovely Patina.
