Grandfather Clock by J.H.Hunsdon of Chelmsford, 8-Day, Circa. 1790.

£2,750.00

J H HUNSDON of CHELMSFORD c.1790

This is a very nice example of an 8-day George III japanned clock with chinoiseries.

It has a silvered dial with an engraved STRIKE/SILENT ring to the arch, and a working seconds ring and date aperture.

The movement is in good clean condition and keeps excellent time. It strikes to the hour on a bell.

The hood is decorated and has a swept cavetto pediment supported on decorated pilasters.

The trunk is in good, solid condition and has a breakarched and moulded door with chinoiseries. The door has a working lock and key.

The japanned paintwork is in remarkably good condition. There is evidence of minor restoration, which is to be expected.

Please see the website photographs for additional information.

All-in-all this is a good quality clock.
