Samuel Harlow is recorded in “Derbyshire Clockmakers and Watchmakers” as working in Ashbourne and then Birmingham from 1767-1815.
This is a 30-hour clock probably dating from around 1780, with a brass round-faced dial, housed in a medium oak trunk.
The movement is in excellent clean condition, and keeps good time. The polished brass dial has Roman and Arabic numerals and steel hands, and the hood has a broken-arch pediment with a central brass finial.
The circular window has decorative reeding.
The plain trunk has a shaped door with brass escutcheon. The case has a good patina.
