WILLIAM PORTHOUSE of PENRITH c. 1750

This is an 8-day brass faced oak clock by a much respected clockmaker. The clock is elegant and well-proportioned.

The face has a working seconds hand and date wheel. It has a matted centre and Roman and Arabic numerals. The winding squares are ringed.

The movement is clean and in good working order. It keeps good time.

The hood has a caddy top, ornate hinges, and a brass escutcheon.

The trunk has a moulded door with a brass escutcheon and a latch. It has had some minor restoration, and has been French polished.

Please note: this is a heavy case.
